The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the dark ages, after the long struggle of the vampire race to subdue the first generation of lycans, the two races live in relative peace. Lycans are the daytime guardians of the vampires, vampires are the rulers of the night, aristocrats and nobles. When the daughter of Viktor, a vampire elder of great renown and respect, becomes pregnant with her lycan lover's child she is ordered exectued. Lucian, the lover, is forced to watch as she is burned alive by the sun along with his unborn child. When viktor returns to the execution chamber, Lucian flies into a rage, transforms (in spite of the fact that the moon was not full) and flees with his beloved's necklace. Lucian then rallies other lycans to his cause and the war between vampires and lycans begins. For centuries the war rages, eventually the lycans are beaten. Their only stronghold is the castle of their leader Lucian. Viktor's second in command, Kraven, makes a pact with the lycan alpha, Lucian. The branded skin is cut from Lucian's arm as proof of his demise and his castle razed to the ground. This farce leaves Lucian in relative peace so that he can begin rebuilding his forces to strike a deadly and telling blow against the vampires centuries later by finding the pure blood of the Corvinus line.

Freddy vs. Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the screenplay, with Pathfinder director Marcus Nispel handling the directing duties. Danielle Panabaker and small-screen star Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) head up the cast as the franchise's newest scream queen and an investigator looking into the deadly going-ons at Crystal Lake.

After the supposed death of her son at a summer camp, a mother begins to kill the camp employees. After her death at the hands of the remaining employees, her son returns to continue her bloody workThe original 1980 movie, directed by Sean S. Cunningham is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences. The well known character of Jason Voorhees only had a small part in the film, but New Line Cinema's new Version is said to substantially expand on his character and backstory.

Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. Camp Crystal Lake has been shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp's new owner and seven young counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a "death curse" by local residents. The curse proves true on Friday the 13th as one by one each of the counselors is stalked by a violent killer.

Here, Jason Voorhees will first appear, he will don the hockey mask and burlap sack, he will run rampant around Crystal Lake, and Pamela Voorhees will appear.

Despite the fact that the 2009 movie shares the same title with the 1980 original, the 2009 film is not a direct remake of that film. In fact, it will have very little in common with that movie, with the exception of its setting and date. Screen Gems has released the movie trailer for Quarantine online. If you remember, last month we posted two viral videos which featured tape of a government shooting that happened on March 11th under the title Case 1017. It turned out that these virals were part of the viral marketing campaign for Quarantine, John Dowdle’s American remake of Spanish horror film [rec]. The film follows a TV news crew which gets trapped with a hazmat crew in a CDC quarantined apartment building which has been infected by something unknown. When the quarantine is eventually lifted, the only evidence of what happened is the news crew’s videotape as ala Cloverfield. The movie stars Jennifer Carpenter as pictured above, who I absolutely fell in love with from the hit television show Dexter as she plays Dexter’s foul mouthed almost always inappropriate sister Debra Morgan.

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans is being fast-tracked into production as a joint venture between Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems. According to Variety, Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra have already signed on to star in the film.

Patrick Tatopoulos, the F/X man responsible for creating the creates seen in the first two films, is on board to direct this third installment of the werewolves vs. vampires franchise. This one will be a prequel, focusing on the origins of the centuries old feud between the Death Dealers and their onetime slaves the Lycans.

"In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom."

Danny McBride wrote the screenplay (but don't confuse him with the Danny McBride of The Heartbreak Kid and Hot Rod fame, this is a different Danny McBride). The film goes into production in January. Shooting will take place in Auckland, New Zealand.

They will star alongside Michael Sheen, Rhona Mitra, Bill Nighy and Shane Brolly in the prequel that is set in the Dark Ages and traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their one-time werewolf slaves, the Lycans.

Kate Beckinsale "NO" to Underworld 3:

It’s been reported here more than once that Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two “Underworld” movies, won’t be returning to part 3, “Rise of the Lycans”, and that Rhona Mitra will effectively be replacing her in the franchise. Now Kate has confirmed it to IESB — no “Underworld 3″ for her, not even a cameo!

Kate Beckinsale revealed today at the junket for her new film, Snow Angels, that she won’t be returning to the Underworld franchise — at least not anytime soon.
Beckinsale did offer that she’d like to maybe one day “pull a Bruce Willis” and return to her character at 50. (How a vampire gets to 50, I have no idea.)
But unfortunately for fans, there’s no cameo appearance in the upcoming third film, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans due next year.

Shame, really, as no one looks better in tight leather than Kate Beckinsale. Seriously, if the girl gave up acting tomorrow and started a clothing line of tight black leather and did all the modeling for it herself, this thing would sell like hotcakes — all to guys, of course.

Shrooms is a 2007 horror film about a group of American backpackers and their Irish guide who are stalked by a serial killer while out in the woods looking for psilocybin mushrooms. The film was written by Pearse Elliott directed by Paddy Breathnach, and stars Lindsey Haun, Jack Huston, and Max Kasch. Reporting on the Horrorthon screening Patrick Thompson stated that Shrooms was the first film to be booed.
