Underworld3: The Rise Of The Lycans - January 2009

Underworld3: The Rise Of The Lycans - January 2009

The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the dark ages, after the long struggle of the vampire race to subdue the first generation of lycans, the two races live in relative peace. Lycans are the daytime guardians of the vampires, vampires are the rulers of the night, aristocrats and nobles. When the daughter of Viktor, a vampire elder of great renown and respect, becomes pregnant with her lycan lover's child she is ordered exectued. Lucian, the lover, is forced to watch as she is burned alive by the sun along with his unborn child. When viktor returns to the execution chamber, Lucian flies into a rage, transforms (in spite of the fact that the moon was not full) and flees with his beloved's necklace. Lucian then rallies other lycans to his cause and the war between vampires and lycans begins. For centuries the war rages, eventually the lycans are beaten. Their only stronghold is the castle of their leader Lucian. Viktor's second in command, Kraven, makes a pact with the lycan alpha, Lucian. The branded skin is cut from Lucian's arm as proof of his demise and his castle razed to the ground. This farce leaves Lucian in relative peace so that he can begin rebuilding his forces to strike a deadly and telling blow against the vampires centuries later by finding the pure blood of the Corvinus line.

Friday The 13th - February 2009

Friday The 13th - February 2009

Jason Vorhees returns to the big screen in this Platinum Dunes remake that nixes the original's conceit that Mrs. Vorhees was the killer in order to give more screen time to her hockey-masked murderous son, who will once again haunt the cursed campgrounds of Crystal Lake. Freddy vs. Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the screenplay, with Pathfinder director Marcus Nispel handling the directing duties. Danielle Panabaker and small-screen star Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) head up the cast as the franchise's newest scream queen and an investigator looking into the deadly going-ons at Crystal Lake.
After the supposed death of her son at a summer camp, a mother begins to kill the camp employees. After her death at the hands of the remaining employees, her son returns to continue her bloody workThe original 1980 movie, directed by Sean S. Cunningham is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences. The well known character of Jason Voorhees only had a small part in the film, but New Line Cinema's new Version is said to substantially expand on his character and backstory.

Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. Camp Crystal Lake has been shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp's new owner and seven young counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a "death curse" by local residents. The curse proves true on Friday the 13th as one by one each of the counselors is stalked by a violent killer.

Mentioned by Producers Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form in the article, this film is best described as a 'reboot' to the entire series of "Friday the 13th," primarily focusing on the first three films ("Friday the 13th", "Friday the 13th Part 2," and "Friday the 13th Part III"). Here, Jason Voorhees will first appear, he will don the hockey mask and burlap sack, he will run rampant around Crystal Lake, and Pamela Voorhees will appear.
Despite the fact that the 2009 movie shares the same title with the 1980 original, the 2009 film is not a direct remake of that film. In fact, it will have very little in common with that movie, with the exception of its setting and date. The 2009 movie will be much like "Batman Begins" in the sense that it it a 'reboot' of the series, sharing no continuity with the original movies despite the fact that they share the same main characters.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - December 2008

The Day the Earth Stood Still - December 2008

The 2008 remake about an alien and his indestructible robot will star (Keanu Reeves) as Klaatu, Jennifer Connelly as Helen Benson, (Jaden Smith) as Jacob, and (Kathy Bates). Gort has not been cast at this time and will most likely be created using FX.
The remake of (The Day the Earth Stood Still) will supposedly remain true to the original movie, however there is a chance the remake will more likely remain true to the short story upon which the 1951 movie is based. In either case the alien 'weaponry' seems to have been upgraded. In addition to a city going dark, and a very brief look at the new Gort, the film trailer shows a cloud of black smoke, capable of rapid movement and disintegrating matter on contact.
In the 1951 movie, Gort is described as one of a race of robots created by the planets to maintain peace throughout the galaxy. If the 2008 remake follows the short story by (Harry Bates), "Farewell to the Master" upon which the 1951 movie is based, it will be revealed at the end of the movie by Gort himself that he is the master, and not Klaatu.

In the original movie, a flying saucer orbits Earth, and lands in Washington, DC, on the Mall. Klaatu (Michael Rennie) steps out and is shot by a jumpy soldier. Gort (Lock Martin), an indestructible robot steps out of the spacecraft and proceeds to melt all the weapons, including tanks, without harming a single human being. Later, the Earth comes to realize that Gort has used very little of his power to make this happen.
While lying on the ground, Klaatu orders Gort to stop, and is then taken by the military to a hospital from which he later escapes in order to learn more about this planet called Earth and its human inhabitants. He meets Helen Benson (Patricia Neal) and her son. Billy Benson (Billy Gray) takes Klaatu on a tour of Washington DC finally stopping in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Klaatu reads the words uttered by Lincoln many years ago and realizes that there might be hope for Earth.
When they begin to suspect him, he reveals himself, along with the news that Gort is a member of a race of super-robot enforcers invented to keep the peace of the galaxy and will destroy the Earth if provoked. Klaatu is pursued and shot and killed by the military. Before Klaatu dies, he tells Helen to go to Gort, and say these words Klaatu Barata Nikto. If she does not, Klaatu tells her Gort will destroy the Earth. Helen makes her way to the ship and finds Gort. As Gort moves towards her, she repeats the phrase over and over. Gort picks her up and takes her into the ship. Gort then retrieves Klaatus body and through their alien science, resurrects Klaatu.
