Plot Summary: "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" will reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-movie span. The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is quickly moving into production over at Warner Brothers. According to Variety, the film will begin shooting in early 2008 with a revised storyline that could expand into two more feature films.

This new version of the old franchise will be similar in scale to Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, and will have an event sized budget. At the same time, Warner Brothers is also producing a small screen adaptation of The Terminator entitled The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which will air on Fox during its midseason run early next year.

John Brancato and Michael Ferris have completed a final draft of the screenplay, and the studio is currently looking for a director to helm the project. At this time, McG is likely to step behind the camera for the first entry in this proposed trilogy, but no deal has been signed at this date and time.

As for Arnold Schwarzenegger's participation in the film, executive producer Moritz Borman stated, "We've left it open for him to maybe do a cameo. He has an important job, as we know, and the final decision will be based on his desire and availability, along with what the director wants."

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will be released in the summer of 2009.

Henry Poole is Here - August 2008

Henry Poole is Here - August 2008

Henry Poole Is Here is a comedic drama about a disillusioned man who goes hiding in placid suburbia only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope. Returning to the middle class neighborhood where he grew up, Henry chooses to live in indulgent isolation. Real life, however, refuses to cooperate with his plans. Nosy neighbors interrupt him with curious visits and prying questions. Then the situation escalates as a stain on Henry's stucco wall is seen to have miraculous powers. His last-ditch hideout becomes a shrine; his backyard turns into an arena for passionate debate about faith and destiny. Seeking anonymous oblivion, cynical Henry Poole instead finds himself right at the center of the human comedy. A modern-day fable, director Mark Pellington's new film investigates the unexpected wonders of the everyday. A faithless man finds hope. A hopeless man finds love. Whether backyard miracles are real or triggered by hope and belief, their personal effects are permanent.

Luke Wilson ("The Royal Tenenbaums," "Old School"), Academy Award® nominee Adriana Barraza ("Babel") and Radha Mitchell ("Finding Neverland") star in a modern day fable about the unexpected wonders of the everyday from director Mark Pellington ("U2 3D," "The Mothman Prophesies"). "Henry Poole is Here" tells the funny, poignant and uplifting story of a disillusioned man who attempts to hide from life in a rundown suburban tract home only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope.

Henry Poole (Wilson) just wants to disappear. Shattered by circumstances beyond his control, he offers full price on a cookie cutter house in a drab, middle-class, L.A. neighborhood through his perky realtor Meg (Cheryl Hines). But just as he settles in to his indulgent isolation with a case of vodka and all the junk food he can eat, his neighbor, a well-meaning busybody named Esperanza (Adriana Barraza), drops by with a plate of homemade tamales and a whole lot of questions.

Despite his desire for solitude, Henry can't help noticing Dawn (Radha Mitchell), the beautiful young divorcée next door and her daughter Millie (Lily), an eight-year-old amateur spy who hasn't spoken a word since her parents' break-up.

Henry's self-imposed exile is shattered when Esperanza discovers a mysterious stain on Henry's stucco wall that is seen to have miraculous powers. She begins leading pilgrimages to the "holy site" and invites church officials, including her pastor, Father Salizar (George Lopez), to inspect the apparition.

Although Henry remains skeptical, he finds himself gradually drawn back towards life, especially after his silent friendship with Millie brings him closer to Dawn. As news of the apparition spreads throughout the neighborhood and his feelings for Dawn grow, Henry realizes his plan to live out his days in quiet desperation is going to be much harder than he ever imagined.

Quarantine - October 2008

Quarantine - October 2008

Screen Gems has released the movie trailer for Quarantine online. If you remember, last month we posted two viral videos which featured tape of a government shooting that happened on March 11th under the title Case 1017. It turned out that these virals were part of the viral marketing campaign for Quarantine, John Dowdle’s American remake of Spanish horror film [rec]. The film follows a TV news crew which gets trapped with a hazmat crew in a CDC quarantined apartment building which has been infected by something unknown. When the quarantine is eventually lifted, the only evidence of what happened is the news crew’s videotape as ala Cloverfield. The movie stars Jennifer Carpenter as pictured above, who I absolutely fell in love with from the hit television show Dexter as she plays Dexter’s foul mouthed almost always inappropriate sister Debra Morgan.

Directed by John Dowdle
Produced by Drew Dowdle and Glenn Gainor
Written by John Dowdle and Drew Dowdle
Genre: Drama / Horror / Thriller
Release Date: October 17, 2008

Casts and Characters:
  • Johnathon Schaech as Fletcher

  • Jermaine Jackson as Nadif
  • Sharon Ferguson as Jwahir
  • Ronnie Lewis Jr. as Officer Lewis

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans - January 2009

Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans is being fast-tracked into production as a joint venture between Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems. According to Variety, Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra have already signed on to star in the film.

Patrick Tatopoulos, the F/X man responsible for creating the creates seen in the first two films, is on board to direct this third installment of the werewolves vs. vampires franchise. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom."

Danny McBride wrote the screenplay (but don't confuse him with the Danny McBride of The Heartbreak Kid and Hot Rod fame, this is a different Danny McBride). The film goes into production in January. Shooting will take place in Auckland, New Zealand.

They will star alongside Michael Sheen, Rhona Mitra, Bill Nighy and Shane Brolly in the prequel that is set in the Dark Ages and traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their one-time werewolf slaves, the Lycans.

Kate Beckinsale "NO" to Underworld 3:

It’s been reported here more than once that Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two “Underworld” movies, won’t be returning to part 3, “Rise of the Lycans”, and that Rhona Mitra will effectively be replacing her in the franchise. Now Kate has confirmed it to IESB — no “Underworld 3″ for her, not even a cameo!

More:

Kate Beckinsale revealed today at the junket for her new film, Snow Angels, that she won’t be returning to the Underworld franchise — at least not anytime soon.
Beckinsale did offer that she’d like to maybe one day “pull a Bruce Willis” and return to her character at 50. (How a vampire gets to 50, I have no idea.)
But unfortunately for fans, there’s no cameo appearance in the upcoming third film, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans due next year.

Shame, really, as no one looks better in tight leather than Kate Beckinsale. Seriously, if the girl gave up acting tomorrow and started a clothing line of tight black leather and did all the modeling for it herself, this thing would sell like hotcakes — all to guys, of course.
